The well backed Rummaging led home a one-two for Mick Halford's yard in the seven-furlong apprentice handicap at Dundalk.
Conor Hoban tracked the leaders on the 11/10 favourite (9/4 in morning) before producing him to challenge over a furlong out.
He got the better of front-runner Greek Canyon inside the final furlong but then had to hold the late charge of Lord Kenmare by a half length.
Rummaging was following up on his maiden success over a furlong shorter here last month.
"He's a lovely straight-forward genuine horse," said Halford of the winner.
"With it being his first run in a handicap you are always wondering a bit but he loves the surface.
"We'll keep him campaigning here and he could run again on Friday.
"It's a pity he had to beat another one of ours - who has been unlucky not to win one lately."
