Ruby Walsh breaks his leg in Down Royal fall
Ruby Walsh will be out of action for a considerable period of time having broken his leg in a heavy fall from Corrick Bridge at the 5th fence in the Rainbow Telecom Handicap Chase.
Chief Turf Club medical officer Dr. Adrian McGoldrick said this evening: 'Ruby has broke the two main bones in his lower right leg, the fibia and tibula. He is in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and will see a specialist in the morning with a view to surgery.'
'All being well he will be operated on in the morning. His own specialist Bill Quinlan will see him in a few days time and we will have a better understanding of the extent of the problem at that stage.'
Walsh had earlier registering a feature race double on Kauto Star and The Nightingale at the Co Down venue.
