Realt just prevails in Arkle
Realt Dubh recorded his second Grade 1 victory over fences this term when just getting the better of Noble Prince in the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase.
The pair set down for a titanic tussle from the final fence, and the Paul Carberry-ridden 5/2 favourite just found a little bit extra in the closing stages to prevail by a short-head.
Incidentally the winner is owned by Derek Sharkey, while his father Des is the owner of the runner-up Noble Prince. Flat Out held a narrow advantage when blundering badly two out, giving Emmet Mullins no chance of staying in the saddle. Saludos was another to spoil his chance when hitting the third last.
“He jumped brilliant and a strong run two miles seems to suit. He's really tough and stuck his head out. He did a nice bit of work on Tuesday over a mile and a half, and he actually worked alot better than he did before Christmas. He'll go for the Arkle at Cheltenham now and, looking further down the line, the Power Gold Cup at Fairyhouse is another probable target,” said trainer Noel Meade.
