After his win in the opener aboard Palamon for Paul Nolan, Sean Flanagan doubled up in race two on Master Otis (100/30), winning this Buy Tickets Online At www.corkracecourse.ie Rated Novice Hurdle for Tom Mullins.
The eye was drawn to smooth travelling favourite Ossie's Lodge until a second last flight mistake ended his hopes, and the Rory Larkin-owned victor eventually went on to beat Sequoiaspirit by three lengths.
"He had form in bumpers last year, learned his trade and is a lot stronger horse now. He were hoping he'd win in Fairyhouse but a horse ran out through a wing which upset him and he nearly fell at the second-last - only for that he'd have been a lot closer," said Mullins.
"He has been working very well since Fairyhouse and my horses are an awful lot better now and the yard is in better form now. Sean Flanagan is great to have and gave him a lovely ride.
"I'd say he'll handle any ground, we told the owner to have a few pounds on so thank God it worked out."
P.T. Enright, rider of Ossie's Lodge, trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a bad mistake at the second last.
