Declan McDonogh has been having a very productive time in recent weeks at Dundalk and he completed a quick double when Queenship landed the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies’ Maiden.
The daughter of Excelebration, third on debut here last month over 6f, was produced to challenge the 5/2 favourite Spilt Passion passing the furlong marker and was ridden out to prevail by a head, with 40/1 chance Rocky Sky catching the eye on debut back in third.
It was McDonogh’s fourth double in the last eight meetings at Dundalk.
Brendan Powell, assistant to winning trainer Joseph O’Brien, said: “The step up in trip definitely suited her. She's gutsy and game.
“She had a lovely run first time up. It maybe didn't turn out to be the greatest race but she's definitely improved.”
