One Cool Princess put in a smart performance as she took the last at Mallow, the Cork & Waterford (Mares) Point-to-Point Flat Race, scoring under Ambrose McCurtin for John Joe Walsh.
Having finished fourth on her debut behind Blodge at Kildorrery in February, the six-year-old daughter of Old Vic scored on her next outing at Horse And Jockey early last month.
Sent off a 5/1 chance this evening, the John McGivney owned victor chased the leaders for much of the contest, and she improved into third five furlongs from home.
She was pushed along to challenge over two furlongs out, and she soon hit the front, keeping on well from there to score easily by six and a half lengths. Phone Booth kept on nicely to take second at 12/1 under David O’Leary for Robert Tyner, while Jenmarie was third at 14/1 under Jane Mangan for her father Jimmy. Annamatopoeia was sent off the easy to back 9/2 favourite, and she finished seventh under Benny Walsh for Brian Jordan.
John Joe Walsh said afterwards: "She is bred to do the job. She is a sister to One Cool Cookie and In Compliance.
"She took a long time to come to hand but she won her point-to-point at Horse And Jockey very Impressive I just thought that two mile might be too sharp for her today.
"She could go chasing next season, and I think she is a good mare and she will stay forever."
SUSPENSIONS
Jane Mangan received a one day ban for using her whip with excessive frequency aboard Jenmarie who finished third, while Damien Murphy (rider of Give Her Bach was given a two day ban for using his whip when his chance was gone.
