Young Dev landed a big gamble in good style in the qualified riders' race at Limerick.

There were four horses in with a chance approaching two out in this two mile five contest with Young Dev taking a narrow lead jumping it.

Four became three as Citizen Al blundered and unseated Maxine O'Sullivan. Young Dev was soon ridden clear by Damien Skehan and had the race in the bag at the last.

He popped it well and drew 15 lengths clear at the winning post. From as big as 22/1 in the money his price contracted to 4/1 on the off. Whoyakodding came second at 25/1 and he was six lengths in front of Lagenod who drifted from 11/4 to 4/1.

Trainer Denis Hogan said: "He was a course and distance winner and had been working nicely lately. It wasn't the strongest race and I told Liam (Mulryan) he'd go close, so I hope he had a few quid on.

"He'll come back here for a handicap chase at Christmas even though he isn't as good over a fence.

"Damien (Skehan) is assistant trainer to me now; he actually came to me in July and the first week he broke his foot so he missed most of the autumn. He is a massive addition and is a very good judge and he along with Jack (Hogan) will ride in the amateur races for me."
