Creggs Pipes completed a double of Curragh May handicaps wins when landing the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 'Habitat' Handicap today, for trainer Andy Slattery
Ridden by Champion Jockey Pat Smullen, the daughter of Rip Van Winkle again made all in today's win, staying on well for a length and three parts win over Champagne Or Water
Afterwards man-for-all-seasons Slattery, who trained Faugheen to win his point-to-point, stated “that was great and I thought she had improved after the last day; she's getting stronger.
“I thought the handicapper had made a mistake with his finger by putting her up 9lb but he was right — he usually is!
“We've always liked her and the owner has a wish to run her in a Listed race. She has some business running in one (Listed race) now and it would be great if we could get her placed.
“She has won on good to firm and is versatile but the softer the better for her. For her to have a chance in a Listed race she'd want it more or less unraceable as she goes through it.”
