Peter The Mayo Man got off the mark at the third time of asking to take the Fairyhouse bumper at odds of 10/1.
The son of Dylan Thomas made a promising debut when fifth to Identity Thief here on the Hattons Grace card before getting stuck in the mud again at this venue on New Yearâs Day.
Trainer Sabrina Harty has given the five-year-old a chance to strengthen up since, and he came home strongly here under David Roche.
Nina Carberry cut out most of the running on 10/11 favourite Delegate but the odds-on shot had no answers when headed inside the final furlong.
Peter The Mayo Man and Donât Touch It both went past the âjollyâ, and it was the 10/1 chance (available at double those odds earlier in the day) that prevailed by a length.
Delegate could only keep on one paced a further length and a half back in third.
Harty said, âThe race worked out beautifully. He has loads of speed and works with seven-furlong horses. He's bred to be a miler.
âHe's close to 17-2 and is massive. He has strengthened up since his first run and is eating like a bull now.
âHe loved his first day out and I've done a load of dressage with him to strengthen him up. He got his summer coat in February and has been thriving.
âHe shouldn't have run the last day as the ground was horrible. The owner got a bit excited as he was married the day before.
âHe loves good ground. I'm delighted to have him in the yard and he's a smashing dual purpose type.
âHe's schooled already and jumps like a cat. He's very agile for his size.â
