Penthesilea scores for Ryan
The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Wexford today, went to the Jim Bolger trained Penthesilea Eile who ran out the one length winner, under Kevin Manning.
The daughter of Rahy was making it third time lucky, having previously finished second in a Curragh maiden.
Bolger himself was absent but her colourful winning owner Michael Ryan did report “I bought Penthesilea Eile from America and, like nine fillies I named this year, is named after an Amazonian warrior queen. Apparently they were each six foot tall, blonde and had their left breasts removed in order not to interfere with their archery!”
He added “we'll look and see where to run Penthesilea Eile next but she may go for either a winners' race or a handicap.”
