The Noel Meade trained Owen Mc maintained his unbeaten record at Fairyhouse today when landing his winners' bumper, under Nina Carberry, in the concluding Irish Racing Yearbook (Pro/Am) Bumper.
The son of Oscar moved to challenge before the straight and went to the front over a furlong out before staying on well for a length and three parts success over Dantes Firth
Afterwards Meade stated “Owen Mc was never really traveling as well as the last day although once he got halfway up the straight he was always going to win. He was nothing like as impressive as the last day but he is only a four year old.
“There's a bumper in Navan before Christmas for him where there are no penalties but that may come a bit quick.”
Regarding his earlier beaten favourite and hugely touted Ned Buntline in the opening maiden hurdle, the former Champion Trainer stated “I'm still in a state of shock over Ned Buntline. He didn't travel through the race and only jumped adequately without being good.
“Maybe two and a quarter miles is a factor but at home there isn't anything that would live with him. We had him scoped and everything was alright.”
