Outsider My Murphy takes the Limerick feature
The feature race at Limerick this afternoon, the Grade 3 Dorans Pride Novice Hurdle over three miles, went to the outsider of the five runners as My Murphy for Liam Burke landed the spoils at the odds of 16/1.
Having dug deep to win his maiden hurdle at Wexford in October over 2m 2f he ran well on his next two starts finishing third at both Thurles and Navan.
Stepped up to three miles today, the son of Presenting came to tackle the odds-on 9/10 favourite Please Talk at the second last and soon hit the front.
He stayed on well from there to assert on the run in, going on to score by three and three parts of a length at the line under Shay Barry.
Please Talk plugged on for second under Paul Carberry while Best Served Cold finished a further three and three parts of a length back in third at 9/4.
The win came as a welcome boost for Liam Burke who currently needs the assistance of a walking stick due to nerve problem in his back.
Burke said after the win: "This fellow is a good staying chaser in the making. He never travelled the last day but he travelled much better today. He is still a big baby and he might have one more run over hurdles."
