Trainer Aidan O'Brien has taken the opening two maiden races at Leopardstown today, landing the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden with the Seamus Heffernan ridden Somehow
The daughter of Fastnet Rock moved past Shamreen inside the final furlong and in the end recorded an impressive length and three parts win over that rival, with four and a half lengths back to the third placed horse.
O'Brien, whose Claudio Monteverdi won the opening maiden, later expressed his satisfaction with the performances of his early runners saying "you would have to be happy with the way they are running in general - they seem to be fairly well forward."
He added “she (Somehow) had a lovely run first time, has been working nicely and has a beautiful pedigree.
“We will step her up now into an Oaks Trial; there are plenty of options at Chester, York, Lingfield and the Blue Wind at Naas. She may get a mile and a half.
