Schroders Mistake (4s out to 11/2) proved best in the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden at Fairyhouse for Ken Condon and Niall McCullagh.
Outsiders Flaming Moon (16/1) and Joven (33/1) gave Schroders Mistake most to do but the victor got it done by a length and three parts and four lengths.
The successful daughter of Cable Bay showed the benefit of three previous outings, from those aforementioned newcomers, putting on her stamp on proceedings from over a furlong out.
“She had a good first run and that race in Leopardstown has worked out well,” said Condon.
“We got very brave then and took a chance in a stakes race. She wasn't disgraced and ran a solid race.
“In Down Royal it was a bit sharp for her. Niall rode her at home since and thought she had got stronger and come forward.
“She showed another facet to her game there today by handling that ground, which has gone on soft, as she had been running on top of the ground.
“She seemed to lean a bit left and we'd need to iron that out, as you can't really be doing that.
“I'm delighted with that and it's nice for the owners.
“We might go for the final of this. That's seven and there is also a nice race on the same day over six so we have options.”
