Champion Trainer Willie Mullins kicked off his weekend with a winner in the opening Boylesports Irish Grand National At Fairyhouse Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse today, scoring with narrow nose winner Adriana Des Mottes under David Casey.
Thirteen to eight favourite Rule The World appeared to have gained a winning advantage when Adriana Des Mottes met the final fence on a wrong stride but to the winner's credit, she quickened well in the closing stages to force a photo finish. Just a nose separated the pair at the line.
Following the win, Mullins stated “she gave a great exhibition of jumping except for the last where she got a bit tight, and David did well to get her back up.
“I might see if I can find a mares race for her next, although she'll be well entered up in all the big chases. We decided to hold her up a bit today as it was her first time over fences; we didn’t want her to be too bold and just wanted to get her jumping.”
