Moscow Treat a promising second on her reappearance at Cork last week, went one better when getting up close home to land the seven furlongs Gowran Park Golf Club Handicap and provide Tipperary trainer Seamus O’Donnell with his first success in nearly four years.
The 7/2 favourite, ridden by Marc Monaghan for his owner/breeder grandfather Jim, stayed on well under pressure in the final furlong to collar Daring Man (16/1) by a length in the closing stages. Diamond Daze (12/1) was another two and a quarter lengths back in third.
O’Donnell said, “It will be more of the same for her now, and she’ll be kept on the go. We’ll see what the handicapper does but he shouldn’t be too hard on her as he gave her 5lb for her last run in Cork.
“That was my first winner in a long time, and I’m glad to get it. I’m delighted Marc was on her as he sat up on a horse for the first time with us.”
