Morning proves Supreme in mares chase

Mon 3rd Jan 2011, 15:35

Morning Supreme justified her short price when running out a facile winner of the mares beginners chase at Cork.

The 4/6 favourite made all, under Paul Townend, in the two-and-a-half mile event and never saw another rival.

Willie Mullins' charge produced a few sketchy leaps but was a distance clear turning for home and the result never looked in doubt as she gained compensation for a fall on her chasing debut at Thurles.

Stable-mate Killultagh Queen was well off her rival, in second, when blundering and unseating at the third last while the other 9/2 joint second favourite Boragh Princess went at the first.

"She appeared to learn from the last day but she did get things very much her own way today," said Mullins.

"I'll keep her to mares' contests if I can and she'll go for a winners' race next. She's a young mans ride!"

Mullins was pleased with the effort of Killultagh Queen despite her exit three out:- "I thought she was excellent and she knows her job."
