Willie McCreery and Billy Lee teamed up to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk with newcomer Morning Approach
The daughter of Dawn Approach was sent off an 8/1 chance on debut and certainly didn’t go unsupported being as big as 20/1 the previous evening.
Lee’s mount tracked the pace in this seven-furlong event, and showed a likeable attitude at the business end.
She kept on best in the closing stages to get the better of Brosna Empress by half a length, with No Browsin also running a cracker on debut just a short-head further back in third.
McCreery said, “She’s a lovely big filly, very honest and never had any complications.
“She’s owned by a lovely syndicate of lads that have been with me for a good few years. Sadly the man who picked her out, Frank McGarry, passed away this year and his son Eddie is involved.
“She is going to be a lovely filly on grass next year. She showed a good attitude in the finish and really stuck her head out.”
