We had another County Kerry father and son win on day two of the Listowel festival when Tom and Bryan Cooper combined to land the concluding Tattersalls Ireland Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle with Crocodile Dundee
Albert and Keith Moriarty landed the 3.30 with Intense Stylist but Crocodile Dundee's number looked to be up when Cluan Dara determinedly tackled the front-runner from two out.
Another winner by Westerner after Spare Brakes in the preceding heat, Crocodile Dundee found more close home to gain the day by half a length.
"It finally came and conditions of the race suited as he is a horse with plenty of experience and it worked out," said Cooper senior on his charge, winning race one here on attempt number 24.
"He battled, which he is not known to do but back to two miles on heavy ground suited.
"He won't come back here later in the week and we'll go back over fences now."
