Moonreach grinds out victory
It was a three-way battle for the opening LMFM Race at Dundalk with Moonreach staying on best to wear down his rivals. Calm Bay took them along in the five-furlong sprint but was strongly pressed by Jembatt at the furlong pole.
The pair were locked together inside the final furlong but it was Moonreach, under Fran Berry, who finished best to trump them for a half-length success.
Jembatt claimed second, ahead of the front-runner Calm Bay.
The Paul Deegan-trained winner had attrached support from 4/1 in the morning into 5/2 on course.
"He was well in at the weights with Calm Bay," said Berry afterwards.
"His stamina really came into play inside the final furlong. The race conditions suited him today."
