Miss Sassyboots (28/1) got off the mark at the seventh attempt at Dundalk today as the Shane Nolan trained filly landed the opening division of the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Apprentice Handicap under jockey Shane Crosse.
The three year old daughter of Anjaal had previously finished third over six furlong at today's venue and while she was today returning from a 162 days absence, made most of the running to score an all-out head win over Gormanston
Nolan later commented “she got a bit of a knock after Leopardstown and had to have a bit of time off. Her owner (Zoe Casbolt) took her home and did a good job in getting everything right again.
“She broke well and got a soft lead. Shane gave her a lovely ride and everything worked out grand.
“She had some form last year (over six furlongs) and we would have started her over seven on Monday but got balloted out. We got in here and said we’d chance it although I thought she’d need the run.
“Hopefully there will be another day in her.”
