Meade and Carberry double up
Paul Carberry and Noel Meade, successful with Original Option in the opener, completed a double when Eirland (4/6fav) justified odds-on support in the Toals Bookmakers-sponsored 2m6f maiden hurdle.
Carberry was hard at work on the downhill approach to the final flight where he gained significant ground to soon take control.
The five-year-old stayed on strongly to the line for an ultimately comfortable five and a half lengths verdict over Dizzy Rascal (5/1), with Katys Girl (10/1) third.
The in-form Meade said: “He goes well on that fast ground and stays really well. We'll try him in a handicap and see what happens. He was never really travelling but Paul gave him a great ride and saved a lot of ground at the last hurdle.”
