Trainer Noel Meade and retained amateur jockey Nina Carberry combined to win the concluding Merry Christmas From Fairyhouse Bumper at Fairyhouse today with Zigger Zagger
The son of Mountain High responded well for pressure in the home straight and stayed on well to eventually deny Willie Mullins a four-timer with fast finishing newcomer Kate Applyby Shoes (whose rider put up 2lbs overweight), who got to within a length of the winner at the line.
Meade later stated “we were a bit disappointed with him the last day and thought maybe he didn't get the 2m2f. He's a horse we like a lot, is a beautiful horse and I'd say he'll make a jumper. We'll go jumping now and he'll be a chaser in time.”
