Fact Or Folklore was popular in the betting from earlier in the day, for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Handicap at Roscommon, and the 5/1 chance proved up to the task under Wayne Lordan.
Birthday boy Willie McCreery continues to send out winners with great regularity, and this daughter of Lope De Vega, in the ownership of breeder, Ballylinch Stud, and David Hyland, came home three and three parts of a length superior to Antique Platinum
"For once things worked out. I didn't run her last week in Killarney, as the ground was a bit lively, and was wondering if I'd done the right thing as it was a huge pot. At least it paid off," said McCreery.
"I thought she was in good old form coming here. I'm delighted to have a horse in training for Ballylinch, and David Hyland is also involved. They are nice owners.
"We'll take it baby steps with her, and looks at fillies handicaps over a mile-and-a-quarter and a mile-and-a-half."
The Stewards interviewed K.J. Leonard, rider of Cheval Rouge concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. H. Rogers trainer of Cheval Rouge attended this enquiry.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that K.J. Leonard was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and consequently suspended him for 1 raceday having taken his recent record into consideration.
