- Mary just loves Tramore
Mary just loves Tramore
Maryiver (16s in the morning into 8s) was lit up by a return to Tramore and the addition of cheek-pieces as she made all under Philip Enright in the www.tramore-racecourse.com Beginners Steeplechase to supply her handler Eoghan O'Grady with a welcome winner (his first on the track since May).
The well-bred daughter of Runyon made all (a tactic that has worked well today) and she jumped well on the way to a well-deserved length success over Bobs Display
Out of a half-sister to former Champion Hurdle winner Celtic Shot, who also managed to land a further 16 races, Maryiver was gaining a second success at Tramore to add to a point-to-point success.
O’Grady said: "She likes it around here. She won a maiden hurdle here on this day last year. She'll go for a novice handicap next."
Victorious owner Ivor Dulohery from Mallow and his wife Mary own the six-year-old mare - hence the name. The former said: "I bought her as a foal from Michael Winters."
