Macs Mandalas gets his head in front
Macs Mandalas got off the mark over fences when claiming the Connaught Beginners Chase under a strong drive by Tom Doyle.
Peter Casey’s charge travelled well to take up four flights from home, the pair had to work hard from the back of the last to hold off So Determined and Eddie O’Connell but managed to keep them at bay by a head.
Winning trainer Casey said afterwards: “That was great, he deserved to win. He has some good form.”
“I thought he was stopping in front. We’ll look for a handicap next.”
