Lucky lasts it out
Lucky At Last has shown himself in the past to be a strong staying honest type and he called on his reserves of both to come out on top in the www.swordsecurity.com (Q.R.) Race under very much in-form Brian O'Connell. Torphichen an ex-David Pipe inmate, and Lucky At Last had a good battle up the straight with the latter getting on top inside the final furlong. That pair got first run on the well-backed favourite, Natural High who came home strong in a bid to preserve his unbeaten record, but in the end he failed by half a length and a neck in third.
Winning owner, Paul Daly, chairman of Kilbeggan racecourse, said of the Pat Martin-trained winner: "Pat is in Leopardstown. This horse is all heart and Pat had him in tip-top shape. He was unlucky to come up against Donnas Palm the last day. We knew he'd like coming up the hill today. I also have Irish Poli with Pat, and he won in Downpatrick recently so we are on a bit of a roll."
