The 45 to 65 Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap at Dundalk saw less than a length and a half cover the first six home. At the head of affairs for Jim and Jackie Bolger Legal Thriller short-headed Chagall
Willie Byrne rode the successful Lawman filly, and the three-year-old was shedding her maiden tag at the thirteenth time of asking.
She certainly didn’t go un-backed as an 11/2 chance (from double figures earlier). The mile event didn’t pan out too far away from expectations as runner-up Chagall was the 4/1 market-leader.
“I'm delighted for Willie to get a winner and the boss said next year will be Willie's year,” said Una Manning.
“We'll see what the handicapper does with her and go from there but I'd imagine she'll be back up here. There will be plenty for her over the winter.
“She's had some very good runs and it was lovely for Willie to get his winner tonight.”
The Stewards interviewed M.A. Enright, rider of Chagall, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that M.A. Enright was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 2 racedays.
