Willie McCreery is featuring in a nice piece in the RTE TV sports news today. The Rathbride Stables operator duly pleased his growing band of followers when Bumbasina delivered under Billy Lee in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Race at Killarney.
Odds-on favourite Angel Island Cloistered and Bumbasina all shaped as possible winners up the straight. In the end it was three parts of a length that split the Renzo Forni-owned Bumbasina, and Angel Island.
The National broadcaster describes the former Kildare footballer as a 'Lilywhite Legend' and after this success he said: "I won this last year with Erysimum and if she can go on and do as well it would be great. She's lazy out and Billy said she did the same as Gowran but she still finds.
"They have done a great job on the track. Even the ground from yesterday has been repaired unbelievably well, and more tracks should learn from them."
