Jockey Brian O’Connell steered his sixth winner in 10 days at Wexford today, winning the 188BET Handicap Chase with the Garrett Power trained Lilly The Lioness
O’Connell registered his first career treble at Listowel last Monday week and today’s win was his ninth of the new season.
Following the race, Power stated “she couldn't have done it any better and likes going left-handed.
“Normally she is mad keen and full of running but today Brian said she was behind the bridle the whole way. If she can do that the whole time I think it'll be a massive bonus for her as she is probably her own worst enemy (racing keenly).
“She is stronger this year and hopefully that will make her better and will go to Galway again and she could take in a flat race too."
Lilly The Lioness was herself claiming a sixth career success and has recorded handicaps wins on the flat, over hurdle and fences.
