Lasoscar appeals off a light weight in the Follow @KilbegganRaces On Twitter Handicap Steeplechase at the County Westmeath track today.
His trainer Liam Cusack won the Galway Blazers last weekend with Snugsborough Benny and this 11-year-old gelding looks to have a good pot in him over fences.
It is worth noting he was only 7-1 for the ultra-competitive Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase at the Punchestown Festival, where he crashed out at the first.
After three spins over hurdles, he can make his presence felt with Paul Townend in the plate for the first time.
Hat-trick-seeking William Du Berlais is the one to beat, but his mark has rocketed to 125 so improvement will be required.
Townend has a solid chance on board Willie Mullins’ Kolumbus in the Like Kilbeggan Races on Facebook Maiden Hurdle, after a placed effort in Ballinrobe.
The duo also team up with German-bred Aramon in the Devitts, Doheny & Nesbitt (C & G) Maiden Hurdle.
This is the four-year-old’s Irish debut and, with a victory on the Flat in his native country, he is likely to be popular. Jaime Sommers goes well at this venue but faces a tough task at the weights in the Joe Cooney Memorial Hurdle.
Mullins’ Koshari with a rating of 140, is a significant player switching back from fences.
After a runner-up spot laden with promise in a point-to-point, Presenting Leah is respected on her first start for Mullins in the Summer Party Pack Discount Group Booking Flat Race. Judgement Day could not have gone much closer in his last couple of races — beaten by a head and a short head in Gowran Park and by a head at Wexford — so has to feature on the shortlist for the Kieran Kelly Memorial Beginners Steeplechase. Time Is Time has shown improvement in each of his last four races and has every chance of a breakthrough victory in the Pig ‘N’ Whistle Pubs & Restaurants New York Handicap Hurdle.
