Dot Love's Gotthenod (4/1 co favourite) posted a decisive victory from the front in the Irish Farmers Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan.
The five-year-old mare was too strong for her rivals over this extended two mile three trip as she scooted in by seven lengths under Cathal Landers. Cats For Cash (9/2) came in second with Aileens Joy a further seven and a half lengths back in third at 100/1.
“She's been so consistent apart from apart from one day over in Clonmel, the occasion got to her that day and she didn't jump well,” said assistant trainer Ciaran Murphy.
“She had two super runs in bumpers recently and has been second in three bumpers. She stays real well and she's a lovely filly for the summer.
“We won't be too hard on her as she's one for the future and she's a nice filly to have over a trip.
“It's great for the owner, Tommy Ward, he's a great supporter of the yard and we're happy for him.
“We had this race earmarked and said we'd come back here over hurdles. We actually threw in Downpatrick in the meantime as we thought it was winnable and she got beat fair and square.
“She's tough to come back for three quick runs and pop out like that, make the running and jump so well.
“The plan worked anyway this time. We'll see how she is but we won't rush her out again.”
