Lambe & O'Connell double-up
James Lambe and Eddie O'Connell followed up the success of Chasing Clouds in the opener when Vivaldi brought up a 51/1 double for the pair in the 'Join The 2010 Sligo Race Supporters Club' Maiden Hurdle.
The winner, a 12/1 chance, came home best from the last to get up and beat Code Of The West by half a length. Shamiran who again flattered to deceive, was three parts of lengths back in third with the well-backed favourite, Curling eight lengths back in fourth.
Lambe commented: "He has been a little bit tricky to train. He was a high class horse on the flat in his younger days for Ballydoyle. We've trained him a bit differently this year, being a lot easier on him and worked more on sweetening him up. I think it's worked and he'll be a nice horse for the summer."
This brace was the first of O'Connell’s career and his thirteenth winner in all.
