Kodi Noir upset some better fancied rivals when causing a 125/1 upset in the Kilminfoyle House Stud Irish EBF(C&G) Maiden at Fairyhouse.
Seamie Heffernan had the Kessaar colt away smartly from stalls and made every yard of the running. Despite looking like being swallowed up at one point in the straight, the Adrian Murray trained juvenile found plenty for pressure and held on well. Paulliac emerged from the pack to throw down the final challenge but just failed to get there. Despite being unconsidered by the betting public, Murray wasn't shocked by his charges performance:
“It's not a surprise. The first day he ran very well, made the running, but he burned up a lot of energy before the race and didn't finish.
“We were wondering then if maybe he didn't get the trip. The next day we ran him, we dropped him out but he didn't settle at all and didn't get home.
“I told Seamie today to go to the start nice and easy and wherever he jumps, have him in his comfort zone.
“It worked out grand. We were disappointed up to now with him but thankfully today he showed what he really is.”
When asked about plans he added:- “I don't know, I'll have to talk to the lads and see what they want to do.”
