Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Barry Geraghty combined to win the opening At The Races Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick today, scoring with Knight's Parade
The son of Dark Angel, backed from 7/4 in the morning into 6/5 favourite, arrived with his winning chance at the final flight and while helped by the fall of Myblueeyedgirl at that obstacle, may have had her measure and in the end easily beat off Ram Them All by eight lengths.
Afterwards Elliott stated “he was entitled to do that on his form and he's owned by a great bunch of lads from Listowel and Killarney (Bodhran Makers Syndicate).
“We'll look for a novice hurdle with him but he wouldn't want it too soft."
