King has Kinsella and Monaghan smiling
King Of Oriel was too strong for Carenza at Gowran

Maudlin Magdalen done Donal Kinsella proud last month with a hat-trick of wins but King Of Oriel did his bit for the County Louth trainer when landing the Gowran Golf Memberships For 2014 #749 Apprentice Handicap today.
Despite taking much man power to load, King Of Oriel obviously had more enthusiasm once racing and in the end the Kheleyf gelding proved three parts of a length superior to Carenza (the 5/1 favourite).
Marc Monaghan was aboard the winner, his first since June, and he commented: "He's a nice little horse and he just got nabbed on the line at Fairyhouse. I tried to keep him covered up as long as I could and when I went for him he kept going well."
Under the new rules governing apprentices, Monaghan's minimum riding weight is eight stone thirteen and that's the weight King Of Oriel carried here, despite a pound less being the correct impost. Sceilg didn't have her declared blinkers on at the start and so she was withdrawn.
Leigh Roche got a 2 day careless riding ban for his effort on Secret Locket (8th home) here. (AM & EM)
