Killinure Lass relished the test of stamina in the three-mile Follow Kilbeggan On Twitter Handicap Hurdle to open her account in the hands of JJ Slevin.
Trained by Brian McMahon on the Galway/Clare border for his mother Anne, the daughter of Morozov made headway to lead on the outer between the final two flights.
The 8/1 chance, available at 16/1 overnight, edged a bit right in the closing stages but kept on well to beat the staying on Rosy Story by three-quarters-of-a-length. Whatsstoppingyou was just a neck back in third with King’s War keeping on a further head away in fourth.
The result was confirmed after a stewards enquiry.
Slevin said, “She had a nice run the last day and stuck at it well. She was in her comfort zone all the way.
“I kept her a bit wide as I think she needs a bit of room and it’s probably no harm being out there. Danny (Mullins) did it in the last race to good effect so we said we’d follow him and see what happens.”
