Favourite backers were rewarded in the two mile six hunters' chase at Limerick as It Came To Pass conquered long-time leader Gullivar
Gullivar cut out most of the work but Brian Linehan rode a patient race on It Came To Pass and the pair moved into contention at the second last.
A prodigious leap there saw him land in the lead. It was an advantage he wasn't going to yield as he galloped home on the run-in to beat Gullivar by 15 lengths.
Jim Culloty 's winner was returned at 5/2 while the runner-up was a 12/1 shot. Boruing Up A Storm (4/1) was 35 lengths adrift in third as the testing conditions took their toll.
Only four of the 12 runners finished as six were pulled up, one fell and one refused.
