The Irregular a shade unfortunate on his handicap debut at Thurles last week, made amends when opening his account in the Powerstown Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.
Trained and ridden by Denis Hogan, the Scorpion gelding was one of a line of six horses approaching the final flight.
However the 8/1 chance came home best on the run-in to prevail by three quarters of a length from Like A Demon Rapid Fritz was a further length and a half back in third, while 11/4 favourite Dawerann was under pressure entering the straight and kept on one paced in fourth.
Hogan said, "He was due that after I didn't get the best of runs around at Thurles. He was a bit green and I didn't give him the best of rides.
"It's good to make amends today for the lads Ray Treacy and Shaun Staplehurst, who are local but based in England. Ray has a good few horses with me and is a good supporter.
"He'll turn out somewhere over Christmas. He is what he is but is only a four-year-old and is big and raw. Fences will be his job eventually."
