Ipsos storms up the hill to score impressively
Ipsos Du Berlais ridden by Nina Carberry and trained by Noel Meade took the last race on the card at Galway this afternoon, the T.V O'Brien Memorial Flat Race, in impressive fashion at the odds of 9/4 (backed from 3/1).
The French bred son of Poliglote won on his only start before today which was in a point-to-point at Belclare in March of 2010.
The 2/1 favourite The Engineer for Jessica Harrington and her daughter Kate rounded the home turn in a clear lead. However the winning 5yo gelding, who was niggled along before two furlongs up, flew up the hill under pressure to score impressively by ten lengths.
The Engineer kept on for second while the John 'Shark' Hanlon trained Coolking was a further three parts of a length back in third at 12/1.
Winning trainer Noel Meade said afterwards: "He might not be a bad horse. Nina gave him a brilliant ride as she let them all play and then came at them. He loves heavy ground and stays well."
