Leo De Fury continued the excellent recent record of trainer Jessica Harrington's horses with an impressive win in the concluding Group 2 Magna Grecia Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes.
Ridden by stable jockey Shane Foley, the son of Australia quickened clear inside the final furlong to eventually beat runner-up Fleeting by three lengths.
The win was Harrington's eighth success so far this week and Foley's ninth, and with the trainer currently cocooning and awaiting Albigna's run in tomorrow's Irish 1,000 Guineas, her daughter Kate Harrington today stated “he’s (Leo De Fury) really exciting; we thought a lot of him last year and the ground was a bit soft for him at the backend in Longchamp but he’s wintered really well and I can’t believe he’s won so easy there.
“Shane said he just dropped him in. I thought there was something wrong as they went so hard and he was so far back but the way he got there he looks like a proper horse.
“I’d say the Tattersalls Gold Cup will be his next aim. We’ll give him a bit of time between his races.
“It was only when I was saddling him that I couldn’t get over how much that he’s developed and grown over the winter. I’ve ridden him out a few times but in the last while he’s really developed and he’s really exciting.”
