After an unlucky Irish debut when second twenty five days back Princess Zoe put the memory of that Navan silver medal well in the past when bolting in under Jody Townend in the Kildare Village Ladies Derby Handicap at the Curragh.
Twice victorious at Munich, in her native Germany when under Stefan Richter’s guidance, the Jukebox Jury grey now races for Paddy Kehoe and his sister Philomena Crampton.
Winning trainer Tony Mullins ran a good grey in the past in these colours in Lady Daisy and there could be some big days ahead with Princess Zoe too.
After cantering into the firing line in the straight, when asked she extended away inside the final furlong to beat Tara Dylan by five lengths.
Mullins’ brother Tom trains Tara Dylan.
“She was unlucky in Navan, she came from a long way back and then got interfered with half way up the straight,” said Mullins.
“It just ruined the plan then but maybe it was a help in winning today.
“Hopefully she'll go on now to Galway for the amateur race, if she pulls out enough and I think she will.
“I'd love to get Jody again but I'd say I'd be lucky with the numbers Willie has in it. It was great to get her today.
“The weights come out Monday for Galway and I'd need whatever she gets for winning there to get in.”
