He's A Delight scores on first start for Meade
On his first start for Noel Meade since moving from the yard of Pat Fahy, He's A Delight took the Johnny Cash Tribute EBF Maiden Hurdle over 2m 6f with Davy Condon aboard.
The winning son of Craigsteel won three point-to-point's on the trot last year at Durrow, Belclare and Castletown-Geoghegan when under the care of Martin Cullinane.
He then followed up in a bumper at Gowran in February for Fahy on his third start on the track before being beaten in another bumper and two maiden hurdles.
Sent off the 9/4 joint favourite he chased the leaders early on before improving to lead at the fifth. He was pushed along in the lead before the second last and kept on well from the last to score comfortably. Nanna Maura who was having just her second run on the track, finished eight lengths back in second at 25/1 for James Lambe and Graham Watters while Open Up Your Heart was a further ten lengths back in third at 5/1. Jack Bene who was backed from 3/1 into 9/4 joint favourite on track, fell at the six flight.
Winning trainer Noel Meade said afterwards: "He might go over fences now as he won three point-to-point's. He stays and jumps well.
"His owner Sean Murphy is from Galway and he didn’t travel up today, so he won’t be allowed to anymore!
"There is a small chance he will go for a winners of one but he will probably go chasing."
