The Allianz Maiden Hurdle was won by the Rodger Sweeney trained Grand Charisma at odds of 8/1, ridden by his son Coleman Sweeney and owned by Mrs J B Sweeney.

Coleman was always prominent, improved to lead from before 3 out, was clear before the last and kept on well to win by a comfortable 13 lengths leaving the 7/2 favourite of Arthur Moore's Paradis De Thaix having to settle for the second spot.
