The Sheila Lavery-trained Global Energy knuckled down gamely in the closing stages to repel the challenge of Nostringsattached in the ten furlong handicap at Leopardstown.
Gary Carroll produced the 10/1 shot to lead narrowly going to the furlong pole and he had to pull out all the stops late on to secure a half length win.
The Showcasing gelding was recording his second career victory, having scored at Limerick in April 2022.
“I'm absolutely delighted. He's had hiccups and it's taken a long time to get him right,” said Lavery.
“In Tipperary he ran a horror of a race but he pulled a front shoe and stood on the nail. It took a few weeks to get him sound again.
“He ran a great race in Killarney and I'm delighted because he's a good horse.
“He kind of handicapped himself because things had been going wrong. Hopefully we're on an upward curve now.
“He's in at the Curragh on Wednesday and he'll run with the penalty.
“I think he's really a mile-four horse but it's just brilliant to have him back. He's a really nice straightforward horse.
“He's in the horses-in-training sale but now that I have him back I'm going to try and talk to John.
“I think he's really well handicapped but it's John's decision. I'd love to hang on to him but we'll see.”
