They won it though, but with another horse, 25/1 first-timer Identify Thief.

Finny Maguire put it up to them from the front on Tully East and that Shantou gelding still held a healthy advantage into the straight.

Yet another Gigginstown hope, Archive was there with his chance at that stage too as the big two in the market, Willie Mullins' Childrens List and the aforementioned Delegate floundered.

The Davy Roche-ridden Identity Thief quickened in the style of a four-year-old that we'll be hearing a lot more about to score by three lengths and a head from Tully East (25/1) and Archive (33/1).

They left Delegate all of nine and a half lengths back in fourth.

Winning trainer Henry de Bromhead said: "He was working nicely at home but ours normally need their first run.

"Davy said he was very green throughout the race but he picked up well half-way up the straight.

"I'll have to talk to the O'Leary's to see where we go next. He's already worked well in a few schooling hurdles." (AM & EM)
