Georgie wins for Cullinane/Ryan
County Galway trainer Martin Cullinane was on the mark when his charge Georgie claimed the Dysart Maiden Hurdle in the hands of Tom Ryan.
Ryan who raced his mount on the outer had the 25/1 shot in front going to the last.
The pair kept on strongly on the run-in to hold off the fast finishing Captain Sully by half a length.
Winning trainer Cullinane said afterwards: “He ran well here the first day and then he ran terrible at Ballinrobe so we decided to comeback here.”
“We gave him plenty of light and he seems to like it on the outside away from everything.”
“He jumps well and we may go to Listowel next for something.”
Davy Russell who was aboard the 6/4 favourite told the Stewards that his saddled slipped badly.
