Chain Gang rounded off a great week at Listowel for Alan Fleming and Barry Connell (four winner) as he took the bumper, the Kerry Petroleum INH Flat Race, under Finian Maguire.
Second on his debut at Punchestown in February the son of Midnight Legend was sent off the 5/6 favourite this afternoon having opened at even on-course.
Sent straight to the front by Maguire he made all and while he was ridden and pressed early in the straight he pulled out more to win by a length and three parts.
Newcomer Robbing The Prey (11/4) ran a fine race to finish second under Patrick Mullins for his cousin Emmet while Bob Mac (7/1) was five and a half lengths back in third under Derek O'Connor for Michael Hourigan.
Alan Fleming said afterwards: "He's a good, tough horse although he doesn't show that much at home.
"Finny said he gave him a flick behind the saddle and he went on. The plan was to win a bumper and maybe he can win a winners' now. He's a nice horse."
