Galloping Gander ran out a facile winner of the opening beginners chase at Thurles.
John O'Shea 's charge, making his first start since last September, appreciated the good ground on his return as he recorded a comprehensive seven-length success.
Sean McDermott sent his mount to the front three from home in the 2m2f contest and he soon had the field struggling.
The six-year-old didn't need to be asked any serious questions as he popped the last two fences and cantered to victory from 6/4 favourite Der Spieler
"I couldn't see him beating Der Spieler but he's a consistent horse and those type of horses usually get their day," said O'Shea afterwards.
"He has a bit of maturity and experience on his side now. You would imagine with his size he'd want it soft but he wants good ground.
"We'll keep him going for the summer festivals now.
"I'm delighted for the owners, who have eight horses with me. I imagine when they bred a Sadler's Wells mare to Danehill Dancer they weren't expecting to win a beginners chase at Thurles!"
