Gamble landed by America
Sizing America overcame a peck two out to land a gamble (as big as 16s in the morning into 7/1) under Andrew Lynch in the Caffrey's of Batterstown Handicap Chase. Frontier Lady looked a likely winner up the straight but Sizing America wore her down on the run-in and he went on to score by a neck.
Henry de Bromhead trains Sizing America for the Ann & Alan Potts Partnership (who were in attendance) and he said: "God he was backed wasn't he! He was great under a great ride again. He is riding out of his skin, Andrew.
"He was running well in beginners chases last year, just failing to win one. He was beaten a short head here over two miles two before having a couple of bad runs at the end of the season. He got dropped to 112 then which looked a good mark.
"He had a wind-op in the summer. He is a grand horse and I think he'll get further. He deserved to win one."
